Quick installation and setup

Step 1: Sign up with Yoco.

Step 2: Install Yoco for WooCommerce on your WordPress website.

Step 3: Activate Yoco on your WooCommerce WebShop.

Step 4: Do a test transaction to make sure you’re all set.

That’s it! You’re ready to accept payments.

All your sales orders in one place

The transaction info is captured in the Orders menu, and you can view all payments in your WordPress admin dashboard to stay on top of everything.

In addition, you can see all your online and in-store payments in one place in your Yoco Business Portal. You also benefit from Yoco business tools, and access to working capital.

Support

For any technical inquiries, please follow these steps:

  1. Send us the logs by navigating to WooCommerce > Status > Logs and selecting the logs that contain yoco and the date of the issue. Click View and copy the logs.
  2. Use this email ecommerce@yoco.com and send us the logs along with your website URL.

Minimum Requirements

  • WordPress version 5.0.0 or greater
  • WooCommerce version 8.1.0 or greater
  • PHP 7.4 or greater is required (PHP 8.0 or greater is recommended)
  • MySQL 5.6 or greater, OR MariaDB version 10.1 or greater, is required

Installation instructions

Before you start, please make sure of the following:

  1. You have an active merchant account on Yoco
  2. You are using a compatible versions of WordPress, WooCommerce and PHP as a prerequisite for the plugin to work.

Case 1: It is the first time you installed the plugin:

  1. Go to WordPress Dashboard > Plugins > Add New Plugin
  2. In the search type “Yoco Payments”
  3. Install the latest version of the plugin > Click Activate
  4. Sign in to your Yoco Portal > Selling Online > Payment Gateway and Copy the Live & Test Secret Keys, one key at a time
  5. Go back to the Plugin Settings on the website and Paste the keys, one key at a time. Make sure to only use a copy & paste approach and not type the keys by yourself as it may 1. result in incorrect keys and failed activation.
  6. Click Save Changes
  7. Do a Test transaction to make sure the plugin is working
  8. Once you’re satisfied, turn the plugin into the Live mode and you’ll start getting real-time payments from your customers.

Case 2: You’re upgrading the plugin to the latest version:

  1. Go to WordPress Dashboard > Plugins > Installed Plugins > locate Yoco Payments plugin in the list
  2. Click Deactivate and then Delete
  3. Go to Plugins > Add New Plugin and search for Yoco – Install the latest version of the plugin. > Click Activate
  4. Go to Yoco Plugin Settings and Remove the Live and Test Keys values. Make sure the input fields are empty (it’ll give you an error which is ok, as the fields has been empty)
  5. Sign in to your Yoco Portal > Selling Online > Payment Gateway and Copy the Live & Test Secret Keys, one key at a time
  6. Go back to the Plugin Settings on the website and Paste the keys, one key at a time. Make sure to only use a copy & paste approach and not type the keys by yourself as it may result in incorrect keys and failed activation.
  7. Click Save Changes
  8. Do a Test transaction to make sure the plugin is working
  9. Once you’re satisfied, turn the plugin into the Live mode and you’ll start getting real-time payments from your customers.

What currencies does this plugin support?

Yoco currently accepts payments via Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Instant EFT. All payments are made in South African Rands (ZAR).

How do I test the plugin?

Set the plugin to Test mode, fetch your Test Keys from the Yoco Business Portal and add these to the plugin configuration. Now try a test payment using the test card info. Note that test transactions won’t appear in the Yoco Business Portal. Using a real credit card in Test mode will also fail. Once you’re ready, set the plugin to Live mode and switch to the Live Keys for real transactions!

It worked great for almost a year then just stopped working.Followed all the procedures suggested on their website:Provide all logs, enable debug, provide a list of all plugins, create an admin login for them.Then spent 6 fruitless hours back and forth on WhatsApp with a chat centre operator who was acting as a liaison between me and their so-called “technical” team. And now it’s 3PM on a Friday afternoon, and not a peep from anyone for the last hour, so it looks like the site will be down all weekend, because, hey, they may be a 24/7 business but don’t expect to be in contact with a human being on weekends or between 5PM and 8AM on weekdays. I am advising my client to move to Payfast, whose support is excellent.Yoco’s transaction fees may be lower than those of Payfast, but woe betide you if you need support

Had a problem when I ran the latest update. Turned out to be a server-side error and nothing at all to do with the plugin. Yoco support was absolutely outstanding, really efficient and most accommodating. Thank you!

With the recent update 3.0.2 my Yoco Plugin which I’ve been using for months successfully on Wordpress just stopped working. After sending an email to Yoco (it took them hours to reply back) they suggested that I switch to a default theme, disable all plugins and basically set my website back to a fresh install of wordpress) All this after I clearly explained that I did not install new plugins – only after the Yoco update did problems arise. Always have two payment processors as Payfast is still holding up.

I am extremely dissatisfied with my experience with YOCO. I have been waiting for a response from their team regarding a server issue that has been persisting for an unacceptable amount of time. It is clear that they are unable to get their servers functioning properly, and what’s worse is their complete lack of communication. Throughout this entire ordeal, YOCO has failed to keep me updated on the status of the issue. As a customer, I expect transparency and timely communication, especially when there are significant problems affecting their services. Instead, their silence has left me feeling frustrated and uninformed. To make matters worse, I recommended YOCO to others based on my previous positive experiences, but now I feel like a fool for doing so. Their inability to address the server issue and their failure to keep customers informed has not only affected my own business operations but also damaged my credibility with others who relied on my recommendation. I understand that technical difficulties can arise, but it is the responsibility of a company like YOCO to handle them efficiently and communicate with their customers throughout the process. Unfortunately, YOCO has failed miserably in this regard. I cannot recommend YOCO to anyone at this point, given their poor customer service, lack of communication, and inability to resolve a server issue in a reasonable timeframe. It is evident that they prioritize their own convenience over the satisfaction and trust of their customers. If you are considering using YOCO for your business needs, I strongly advise against it. Look elsewhere for a company that values customer support and is committed to resolving issues in a timely and transparent manner. YOCO has proven to be unreliable and unprofessional, and I regret ever engaging with their services.
